As you can see, I've fallen behind, but now we're back on track and more pictures will be uploaded soon! Here are a few of many from my most recent shoot with Isamar and Ricki. Can't decide if they should be entirely black & white, color, or just the scarves in color as I have decided to center my portfolio around the advertisement of Delve, a clothing company featured at Soho Boutique in Portland. I'll post the pictures in black and white with color later to see which is preferred. Enjoy!

This image is Delve's logo that I took some years ago. I'm thinking about doing diptychs with my images, so I thought it would be smart to post this picture as a component for at least one diptych.

A little blurry, but I really like the lighting and the colors.

Week 3 ♥

This week I had a sort of "kill two birds with one stone" opportunity, and snapped these shots in the process. I'm starting to ease more into my concentration and find people that I'm interested in photographing. Lucky for me, it just so happened that my two best friends were also modeling for my mom and the shots were essentially set up beforehand. We experienced with the lighting and found that an LED headlamp worked better as direct lighting as opposed to a desk lamp lighting from the side.

Week 2

Now that I have decided on a concentration theme, I'm beginning to study the different types of lighting in past photographs that were successful. In this image, I used an ordinary desk lamp as side lighting. It seemed to work fairly well, although I think I would like there to be more shadowing in the background framing the character's figure.

The lighting in the three pictures above was entirely natural lighting around 5:30ish in the evening. Of all three shots, I think I like the bottom one the most. The light source was behind the camera, creating the deep shadowing in the background and the highlighting of the character's face. The shadowing and highlighting of the image are both very strong components, as well as the texture of the setting.

Week 1

Unfortunately, it took some time to finalize my ideas for my concentration theme and I wasn't comfortable with taking random pictures for creativity purposes, because I knew I would stray from my initial brainstorm.
